Hell, make Red Hare, Shadow Runner etc items you have to /find/ and quest chains to help you do so. The occasional box drop just isn't worth it when the only thing I need to do is zig zag to find them on the mini map. It's my hope that in future releases they actually add hidden treasures around the map and quests that send you towards them, just to make some of the expanse worth exploring. There's only so many cookie cutter houses and pretty, but inconsequential landmarks I can find before I get bored. (The area near Wuwei /is/ good for farming coins though.) Likewise many waymarks along the map and even some of the watchtowers don't unlock anything new to see and you get the feeling that they're there just to fill in the empty space rather than as anything meaningful.įrankly after I tried to go to Taiwan and the southern island and found myself hitting an invisible wall I gave up on exploring. I spent the better part of five hours exploring the north awhile back and it's pretty much barren and avoidable unless you want to farm bears and bandits.
